Are Upsell Apps Going the Way of Wheelio?

Chris Z wants to know our thoughts on upsell apps. We're seeing competitors getting away from these annoying pop-ups and just showing a cleaner built in suggestion. Are these apps going the way of wheelio or do you find these ad to sales more effective?
