The Importance of Analyzing Trends
In aggregate analysts as a group are not going to pick the tops and bottoms in the economic cycle particularly when they happen you know more suddenly. So it tends to be much more of a relative decision meaning which sectors or which stocks at any given point in time have stronger or weaker revisions. An energy analyst can tell you whether this particular company is going to benefit more from higher oil prices than that company will because of their hedging practices or their you know whatever they're doing at the company level.
