We Will Build a Church, Right?
I don't believe Jesus was talking about the Roman Catholic Church. That's the mythology we created from that one quote, which is an awful lot of weight for one quote to carry. But I think he was affirming the faith of Peter, not the office of Peter. The idea of an office would have been unthinkable or unknown. It's produced too many good fruits along with plenty of bad fruits as God does in every single denomination.
