Is PTP the Best Master Clock Algorithm?

NTP has significantly more robust ways of combining clocks than what you're describing for PTP. It feels like we threw out a lot of the safety and that makes me super nervous based on my experience with these devices. We have an NTP solution that's not working well enough. And a PTP solution that is kind of terrifying. So where'd you go from there? I'm trying to build a proof of concept.
