The Importance of CPPD Classification Criteria

The definition of CPPD has varied so much between studies that it's actually quite difficult to compare across studies. To be classified, you must have some clinical symptoms of joint inflammation in addition to imaging unless you've had this synovial fluid aspirate with CPPD crystals. I'm discussing right now provisional criteria. They haven't been fully improved. So with that caveat, if we're looking at therapies to try to reduce symptoms for chronic CPP inflammatory arthritis, we're definitely going to want joint inflammation as a component. But I think there's also potential for looking at OI and CP people who would have had some signs of joint inflammation at some point.
