i think we make a mistake if we imagine that the questions of settler violence and racial subordination are somehow either secondary, purely symbolic moral issues. These issues are not going to be dissolved because these issues are so deeply embedded in american conduct,. And really, this is one of the reasons why, i think when you start to take on the question of war and empire, you can't get away from these issues.
