The History of the Cholita Dress

The traditional cholita outfit dates back more than five centuries to Spanish colonialism. Over the centuries, indigenous communities came to embrace this fashion and made it their own. Lydia couldn't wear her cholita clothes to school, she made sure to change into that right when she got home. She always wore elegant jewelry and broaches, and of course, the iconic Borcelino hat.
