The Origins of Moslem Christianity
Eastern christianity contributed to moslem success in conquering new territory. Monophysites, jacobites, cupts, nestorians, syriacs and others felt oppressed by the byzantines and e persians when islam arrived. The history of the next 12 hundred years was one of gradual total islamization. In most areas dominated by islam elit slowly converted due to some combination of persecution, restrictions imposed on demi and desire to retain and enhance elit status. peasantry mostly converted overtime.
