In early 19 88, the polish government is trying to a gain society's acceptance for austerity. The referendum actually fails, but they go ahead and do it anyway. And then in the spring of 19 eight, in the summer of 19 88, solidarity and really just broadly speaking, the polish working class rise up against this austerity movement. By the fall of 1988, the government has decided that if we're going to get social peace in a time of economic of austerity, we need to bring society's stakeholders into the government in some form. And so this what becomes this round table negotiation, because it took place around table. It includes the catholic church, it includes aa solidarity,
