The Meaning of War
I wonder if as we move forward, we can stop romanticizing more in our imagery to the point at the beginning of this discussion, then maybe we would not attach so much noble meaning to war. Because we do romanticize so many elements of it. And I think part of that is we were into size violence. Part of it is we don't want to be disrespectful to people who paid with their lives. But at some point without disrespecting those people, we need to face the senselessness. If enough of us get it right at the individual level, thenmaybe we'll get it right one day at the collective level.
