The Body Is a Multiplicity, a War and a Peace, a Flock and a Shepherd
i think if we accept this view of the self as a multiplicity, we come away with an idea of our own identity. It's not essentialized or totally consistent. And it remains dynamic, such that i am not the same person in the morning as i am in the evening. There are very serious implications for this am in terms of the practical sphere, in terms of practical ethics. As i said that we're talking about a, i know i've referred to it before, but t s. Eliot wrote of this,. a sort of view of the dynamic self, very beautifully in his poem four quartets - which i'll take the opportunity to read from here.
