What Is the Difference Between Scoutness and Soldierness?

Bob Greene: Why do I strive to be more of a scout, less of a soldier? He says most decisions that we have this soldier problem with are ideological. And it's really hard to know what the right, what a scout should think about religion or politics and so on. Greene: Since you can't really find the truth in a lot of those areas, it's not clear how to be a good scout.
