Sonata Form - The First Theme
Beethoven's music is extremely simple in its basic elements. He lays out this four note theme and then repeats it in a new key. Sonata form features often but not always an introduction, an exposition which we are in right now featuring two contrasting themes. This is the section of music that Beethoven would come to master to a degree no one ever touched before or really after.
