In 2003, Maynard spent 12 days in jail for defrauding on a $16,000 loan from the Mirage Casino in Las Vegas. He later used this story to say that that's what inspired him to start life lock because he claimed his identity had been stolen. The Mirage had a copy of Maynard's Arizona driver's license on file attached to the casino marker. They had a picture of him signing and hit.
