The Judiciary Act of 1801 by the Federalists
The court was more significant and a bigger part of the american political experiment in 1800 and 1801 and 1802 then it is even now. It's hard to imagine if jefferson had gotten away with what appears to be a vendetta this could have really damaged our capacity to be a stable republic. i'm curious as to whether jefferson ever thought after marbury versus madison other branches could could rule congressional law unconstitutional. I think that one of the most shameful things in American public life is a senate hearing of a supreme court justice it's really low low low theater we've never been able to get back to a normal Supreme Court.
