The planet has plenty of copper. It exists. The issue is whether we're willing to go where we can get it and how long it takes to develop technologies, give us superior ways to produce it. There's almost a billion cars in the world today, replacing a billion cars with electric cars that will require huge amounts of metal. But even if this were to happen within 2050 timeframe, it just won't happen. They just don't assume we have depression in the world; there are no such things as static number of people living at all.
