Ancient Babylonian Mathematics

The first babylonian dynasty is the home of many excavated clay tablets. The ideas are a lot more advanced than simple addition, subtraction and multiplication. Mathematical experts appear to have been studying nature of mathematics purely out of curiosity and leisure. It is even possible that the babylonians understood what we refer to as the pythagorean theorem over a thousand years before the lifetime of the ancient greek philosopher pythagoras.
