How to Test a Theory Without Mathematics?

Most of our medical science hypotheses were tested without mathematics. We know that the heart is not because we fully worked out hydraulics. How can we determine whether this state of brain is set to how we are in a area, or is conscious based on the Hock's theory? I let Richard answer that because I didn't bring it up. It was not specifically about Hock but it's about how the axioms get built and they're built in, in favor of a certain theory.
