The first offensive in history launched by Negroes along a broad front was begun by the enslaved during the Civil War. The thing that they created that I think they handed down to this country is how to create mobilized publics. They always had the goal of taking immediate action on the agenda so that people knew how to not just organize an organization and send out letters and ask for money.
