The Power of Feedback

It's so cool to hear from someone that's actually using something you've built, I think. Even negative feedback is just a confirmation that real humans use and care about this stuff. Getting bug reports sometimes is an incredibly validating feeling. A lot of people won't think that effort to email the developer.
