The Death Strip
In 1962, 18-year-old Peter and his friends attempted to cross the border into West Berlin. They were shot dead by East German guards who couldn't do anything because it was inside their territory. The incident became a PR disaster for the Soviet government as they tried to show what wall had done to their own people. In 1963, President Kennedy addressed more than 100,000 people from steps of city hall in speech which will go down in history. He said: 'The proudest boast is, Ash Bean, Ayn B Leena'
