The Future of the Priesthood in the Sacramental Framework
What future is there for the priesthood in the sacramental framework redefined by the Council? The question is complex and even paradoxical. Does not the time not come in Catholicism for a shift of emphasis towards a fundamental theology of the priesthood, which reframes the hierarchical ministry? This is the question that motivated and inhabited the deliberations of the Roman Symposium of February 2022. No longer an open conflict with modernity, but an opening to dialogue in a missionary perspective.
