I've Been Able to Contribute at My New Job

I would say that at my new job, I've been able to contribute by leveraging my experience designing systems. The API of this like OAuth library in a specific language. But you need to know that stuff still. So you've got to figure out how to invest your time. And the kind of architecture stuff you're talking about has a much longer half-life thing.
