Anytime the storyteller turns on themselves, you need to pause whatever you are doing. Do you hear the self contempt in his response? I always let him get to me. Even as a junior in high school, this man has turned on himself. He has contempt for the junior in highSchool. You can't join him in his self violence. So you need to say, I can't join you in turning against that junior in high School. But can we go back in the story to where you were right before the self contempt kicked in? Can we go back to right there?"
