The History of the Casting Couch

The casting couch was so commonplace that it acquired a name and remains heart-breakingly relevant today. The old Hollywood system didn't survive as a result past the 1948 court case versus paramount. But just like a horror movie monster, the thing America thought it killed hit itself away, recuperated, and arguably returned in a slightly different form for a sequel.
