What Do the Sacraments Do?
The sacraments give grace and rekindle reestablished divine life in us. The Christian life is not simply about not sinning, it's about sharing in divine life. They remit sin to be forgiven of our sins because what does sin do? It separates us from God. So all the sacraments then are built upon that and drawing us into this deeper union of the divine life.
