The Black Myths of Past Democracies
There's a strong sense after 19 forty five that what had been wrong with these past exercises in democracy is that they had been simply too political. We need to have, first of all, that much more broadly based democracy that exists in society as much as it does in politics. Ad secondly, that we must cast off a certain sort of ego selfishness in favour of aa much more consensual model of rule. And third the competence issue that they would actually bring into the process of government, various skills such as cansion economics and wartime planning That would create a much more stable, prosperous future than the much more short lived budget driven democracies of the interwal years.
