Are We the End-All and Be-All of Things?
St. Francis says that we are not the end-all and be-all of things, and we shouldn't expect that. He also encourages what different authors in the spiritual tradition have called, like, consent or abandonment. So this disposition whereby we just give ourselves over to what it is that the Lord permits ... And rather than seeking to avoid that or to evade that, we seek the Lord in the midst of that.
