Payne's Dilemma

Payne was stripped of his French citizenship and thrown into Luxembourg prison. He stayed there, I believe about eight months suffering, languishing and almost dying of a fever at one point. A jailer's mistake allowed him to survive enough weeks for Monroe to come to his defense press for his citizenship. It is interesting to see maybe not the highest points of his life. Certainly not.
