The Arab Spring and the Global Financial Crisis

I always felt like we were just seeing the tip of what was going on. If you saw 10 in the New York Times over the course of six months, if you were looking at Chinese language media, you might find like a hundred or thousand reports. I think there's been a clamp down on putting out that type of number for public consumption. The Arab Spring in 2011 probably factors into their thinking quite dramatically. And then with the symbolic staging of the Olympics, these things really injected this sense of confidence and some would say overconfidence into the party and its leaders.
