The Importance of Speed to Market
You have to give up equity. The sooner you let them in and the less you can negotiate, the more you give up. And so as a result, speed to market becomes an imperative. When do you know is a startup person when it's right to actually bring somebody in there and write a paycheck rather than be the fellow co-founder that's in the garage? People that get it wrong don't end up writing that check for very long because they tend to fail.
