Film Review - Let's Scare Jessica to Death
Critic and biographer michael doyle describes the film as a haunting elegy for the failures of the hippy movement. Director john hancock has granted this interpretation, commenting, you could already feel that negativity brewing when we were king. That things weren't working out the way some of us had hoped and dreamed they would. Perhaps this is the reason why jessica can sense a ghostly presence in the house during emily's seance. She is able to connect to the spirit of the former occupants because there too lingers an unspecified drama that prevents the family from having closure.
