RSV - The History of Ventilation
In the mid-16th century, anatomist Andreas Vesalius described what we would today recognize as positive pressure ventilation. In his 1543 anatomy treatise De Huminye Corporus, Vesalius said that life may be restored to an animal if a tube of reed or cane should be put in its trachea. You will then blow into this so that the lung may rise again and take air.
