The Importance of Same-Sex Desire in Islam

Islam prohibits without exception all forms of same-sex, erotic behaviour. The only acceptable place for sexual intimacy in the Islamic understanding is heterosexual marriage between a man and a woman,. So any sexual relationships outside of that are absolutely haram. People should not see themselves as somehow different from other normal Muslims because they have such attractions. They should certainly not label themselves homosexual. Rather, they are just like other normal Muslims, since all Muslims must struggle against base desires. And struggling against any such desire is a test that, if we successfully pass, will earn our pleasure.
