How can I change the schema of my database without taking the application down that's indeed a very interesting question. It also depends on whether this Schema would break your application and if you like rename a field then it would indeed also break your application code so you have to make sure that you either deploy these changes in sync or sometimes you can even have even more complicated migration scenarios. For that there is what's called the expand and contract pattern that we have written about in our documentation and also in the Prisma data guide.
