The Art of Rassam
Rassam found on the floor of that large state room with the lion hunting freezes, piles of terracotta tablets. Most of them inscribed in the writing system we call cuneiform, which as I said Rassam could not read. And most of them also were stamped with seals that may have been official seals from the imperial government. So they continued to excavate for several months until in March 1854 Rassam left to go back to Britain because he had run out of funds.
