The problem is essentially that these models end up being very, very good. And then every once in a while they'll just make incredibly stupid mistakes or things that are completely wrong according to sort of the way we see the world. There's a bunch of sort of competing theories as to why this problem exists and even some theories that suggest that this problem might just be inherent of learning from very high dimensional data.
