The Billion Dollar Spy by David Hoffman is about how the CIA recruited and ran an agent in Cold War era Moscow. Hoffman tells a story of Adolf Tulkchov, who was a Soviet electronic engineer. He provided vital documents on Soviet weaponry to the CIA between 1979 and 1985. One of my favorite tools that the CIA used was something called a Jack in the Box.
