Malfa was inspired by two movies, Desk Set and Star Trek. The idea that a computer could take over human jobs wasn't very popular in the 1960s. IBM covered up how an AI would turn psychotic because they didn't want it to sound too scary. But Malfa is based on real-life data from large databases of information about lots of kinds of things.
