Paul Baltes at the Max Planck Institute in Berlin identified what he calls the selection, optimization, and compensation theory. Successful adults who exhibit wisdom have actually leveraged their goals by being more selective about specific goals that they pick,. And then compensating when they can't quite do it. So I think for all of us, that is a wonderful, wonderful guidance of like how to live a meaningful life as we age.
