Is AI a Big Black Box Tech Thing?
Ashok: John Wu, who I spoke to said about how AI is best used in research. He uses machine learning to process astronomical imaging data at pixel scale and study the development of galaxies. So it's a really good example of where AI tools are carrying out a task that would be incredibly difficult for humans to effectively. And thus it is helping advance the research and advance our knowledge far quicker than we could do without it. Ashok: John is a proponent of AI, but he definitely feels it needs careful handling. But also became clear from that conversation actually was that AI requires a collaborative approach with different experts feeding into the design and implementation.
