Is There Any Intelligent Discussion About Acid-Base Balance Without a Blood Gas?
Aldo: It's very interesting now though I mean obviously in the world of the ICU you always assume that you go from one extreme to the other it's like a pendulum right. The studies have shown in different contexts they haven't explained the reason but this whole idea of a self-fulfilling prophecy and trying to find the balance is an important challenge for all doctors. A blood gas can never be discussed without a blood gas so whenever you want to discuss acid-base I love talking about acid-base balance but we can never have an intelligent discussion with our blood gas, Aldo says.
