Jefferson and Education in Politics
Jefferson was a thoroughgoing Rousseauian. Their views on human nature are very similar that human beings are essentially good. And yet the two of them land on a politics that really tries to circumvent people as they actually are. Jefferson is remembered as a champion of democracy as a lover of just ordinary people. But when you read his writings, he really believes that his countrymen ought to change in some fundamental ways.
