Maimonides occupies an unparalleled role in Jewish intellectual history. He was a leading authority not just in philosophy, but also in rabbinic law. His forbiddingly learned and provokingly rationalist works spread far and wide. One of his greatest supporters, Samuel Ibun Tibon, was probably an eternalist.
