Chat GPT has been in at least one or two cases listed as a co-author on a paper. There are AI engines that can analyze text to see if it was generated by an AI AI. I suspect that ultimately we will reach a point where tools like chat GPT find their use as legitimate tools but getting there is going to take some time.
