On the Orders of Beijing

In 2017, on the orders of Beijing, you were denied entry into Hong Kong 20 years after having moved to the city and beginning your life as a journalist. In terms of my experience of being denied entry, yeah, I arrived. But somehow Beijing found out in advance that I was going. And I was stopped at the immigration counter when I handed my passport over. They put my name into the computer and clearly it came up in flashing lights; they took me aside and told me that they had orders from Beijing to deny me entry. The incident was raised in both houses of the UK Parliament. So it did serve an early warning sign of what this is about - which obviously is far worse
