What's the Lateral Internal Pathway Doing for the Hippocampus?
Researchers are trying to understand what this other half of the internal cortex called the lateral internal cortex is doing for the hippocampus. The idea is that in an experience, the spatial map is the organizing framework that binds together all the disparate parts of an experience which are being processed in different parts of your brain. And so there'd be any attempt to look at how other sensory inputs are somehow they have to be integrated into this cognitive map and the recalling of what happened to you in a particular location.
