Writing a Novel - The Five Big Scenes
When you're writing a novel, there's always a turning point roughly about every quarter of the novel. So if you think about those big turning point scenes, and you'll want to make sure that you revise those first before you go on to the rest of the scenes in the novel. The hook is the opening scene that introduces the character and introduces s the story world. And it always should be in the form of an active scene. We don't want a bunch of info dumps or static description. The reader wants to jump right into the story with something interesting happening on the page,. Then about a quarter of the way through a book, it might be earlier, sometimes 15 or 20 %
