The Sun Compass and Celestial Navigation
The sun compass would essentially give you a bearing, which is what you were primarily navigating. With the ingenuity of the sun compass, it is actually beyond praise. The coals, I don't know very much about Mr Cole's, but he deserves to go down in history. For those that are watching on YouTube, you'll see these images that we were able to get from Tom that showed the sun compass,. This would have all been pre-GPS.
