Historiansplaining: A historian tells you why everything you know is wrong
General Braddock and George Washington

He would lead a large column of troops through the mountains and forests hoping to approach and ambush the French fortress at the forks of the Ohio. The British tried to fight back against them, but the column was quickly trapped, surrounded, and caught in deadly crossfire. Meanwhile, it seems George Washington took this sash that he had received from General Braddock with him everywhere he went. It remained in his personal possessions and is still today in the collection at Mount Vernon in Virginia.
